Day 58: Milestones and Updates
It's been a while since I've shared an update here, largely because my journey with Wegovy has been cruising along without much change. But today, I've got some exciting news and a few updates I'm eager to share with you all.
A Marathon Achievement
Let's start with a personal milestone: this Monday, I conquered a full marathon on my treadmill! Achieving this long-term fitness goal was something I had doubts about, but I geared up with a liter of sports drink and a handful of chocolates for energy—a first for me. Inspired by the energy reserves I had post the two-hour half marathon a while back, I embarked on this challenge with a mindset of going as far as I could, harboring a quiet hope of completing the entire marathon.
Setting the treadmill to 10.6 km/h with a 1% incline aimed me at a 4-hour marathon pace. The initial hours passed surprisingly well, with focused breathing keeping my heart rate in check—whether that's due to improved fitness or less pressure from belly fat, I couldn't say, but it worked wonders.
However, at the three-hour mark, just as I was bracing to push through to the end, my treadmill abruptly quit on me, claiming three hours was its limit. After a quick reset, I miscalculated the remaining distance in my exhaustion, ending up a kilometer short after my additional 9.5km effort. Although I corrected my error with a brisk walk/jog, this oversight will nag at me until I conquer a full 4-hour marathon properly—though I'm not rushing to attempt it again just yet.
Despite this slight mix-up, I'm genuinely proud of this achievement. It's a testament to how far I've come and a story I'm thrilled to share.
Wegovy Journey Continues
On the Wegovy front, I had my final 0.50mg injection last week, which, for the first time, was followed by some gastrointestinal discomfort lasting a few days. Whether this was due to the medication or another factor remains unclear.
Today marked the transition to a 1mg dose. So far, so good—just a bit more burpy than usual, but nothing too bothersome.
The latest weigh-in showed a slight reduction to 92.4kg, a 0.4kg drop since the last check. While the pace of weight loss has slowed, I'm not concerned. I'm eating healthier and staying active, confident that the results will follow. Balancing medication with my appetite and ensuring I fuel enough for exercise remains a delicate dance.
Looking Forward
As I enter the third month of this journey, it's time for another photo update to visually document the progress. This journey with Wegovy has been transformative, not just in terms of weight loss but in how I approach my health and fitness overall. Here's to more milestones, learnings, and shared stories ahead.
