Day 1 Here we go
Day 1 Reflections
Yesterday marked the beginning of a new regimen for me. I was advised to abstain from eating post-midnight prior to each weekly injection, as part of the routine includes blood tests. Consequently, my day commenced on an empty stomach. The injection was administered around 11 AM, and initially, I noticed no discernible changes.
Lunch was a usual affair – a sandwich. Ordinarily, by dinner time around 5 PM, hunger pangs would be a familiar sensation. However, an unusual lack of appetite greeted me as I began dinner preparations, even with the temptation of leftover birthday cake in the kitchen – a snack I usually can't resist.
Despite cooking my usual dinner, my portion size was notably reduced – I served myself only half of my typical amount. Surprisingly, this smaller portion left me feeling content, leading me to store away the leftovers without a hint of further craving. The absence of the urge to continue eating was a new experience for me.
My evening included a game of indoor football (soccer), where I played at my usual intensity without any noticeable decrease in performance.
Post-football, my snack was modest: a couple of slices of pumpernickel bread with peanut butter, along with an apple and an orange. This was a smaller quantity than I'm accustomed to, yet it left me feeling quite full.
Interestingly, my dreams that night were dominated by food, and I woke up with a strong hunger, leading me to snack on carrots and hummus.
At this juncture, it's unclear whether I'm receiving the actual medication or a placebo. Nonetheless, the diminished appetite could be a result of the placebo effect. Regardless, my goal is to embrace a more controlled eating habit this year in an effort to shed some weight.
