Day 19 Reflection: A New Experience at Family Dinner
Today's family dinner, held in honor of Mother's Day, presented a unique experience that diverged from my usual encounters with food. The meal was exceptional—chicken in a rich red wine sauce accompanied by perfectly cooked potatoes and root vegetables. Despite the exquisite taste and the festive atmosphere, I found myself unable to consume more than half of what I would typically eat, resulting in me passing on the remainder of my meal to my nephews, who were more than willing to accept the extra servings.
This occurrence was a departure from the norm for me. Growing up with the ethos of finishing everything on my plate, the concept of not fully indulging in a delicious meal, especially one prepared for a special occasion, was foreign. The inability to motivate myself to eat beyond my new, reduced appetite was eye-opening and led me to a significant realization regarding my participation in the trial.
The stark difference in my eating behavior at this family dinner has all but convinced me that I must be receiving the actual medication. The change in appetite and the subsequent impact on how much I can eat—even when faced with what used to be irresistible dishes—points to the influence of the trial medication. It's a notable shift from my historical approach to food and meals, underscoring the physical changes that accompany this medical trial.
This revelation adds another layer to my ongoing journey, highlighting the medication's potential effects beyond weight loss and into the realms of changing fundamental behaviors and attitudes towards eating. It's a poignant reminder of the trial's impact, not just on my physical health but also on my social and cultural habits surrounding food.
