Day 15 Reflection: Challenges and Hunger Pangs
After a brief bout with a cold that seemed to be on its way out, I felt improved enough to participate in an evening football game. Despite my initial intention to take it easy, the reality was a performance that didn't meet my expectations—I played quite poorly, which was a bit disheartening.
In anticipation of the fasting requirement for the next day's blood work, I aimed to eat as much as possible before the midnight cutoff to avoid nighttime hunger. This resulted in consuming significantly more food than usual, a decision driven by the desire to stave off hunger during the fasting period.
Contrary to my expectations, I woke up at 4 AM feeling incredibly hungry, to the point where it was almost unbearable. This intense hunger, despite the large meal before bed, was a new and quite uncomfortable experience for me. The necessity to fast until the bloodwork meant I had no choice but to endure it. The level of hunger I felt was unprecedented in my life, highlighting a surprising aspect of how my body is reacting during this trial period.
This experience underlines the unpredictable nature of appetite changes and the body's response to different situations, such as fasting for medical tests. It's a stark reminder of the complexities involved in managing diet and hunger, especially within the framework of a clinical trial. As I move forward, finding ways to balance these challenges becomes increasingly important.
