Day 7 Update: Dietary Adjustments and Weight Trends
This morning started with a nutritious and enjoyable breakfast of yoghurt, honey, and rolled oats. I find this combination to be fresh, tasty, and filling, and it is a new addition to my diet. Interestingly, this change was inspired by a recent podcast I listened to about the dietary benefits of yoghurt, and it aligns well with my current food preferences.
Today, I've noticed that my hunger isn't as suppressed as it has been on previous days. It's more of a subtle presence in the back of my mind, rather than a persistent urge.
In terms of weight, today's weigh-in showed a slight increase to 97.7 kg (215 lbs). While there's a small uptick since my last weigh-in, I'm attributing this to the normal daily variations that everyone experiences. Given my consistent workouts and moderate, healthy eating, I'm confident that my overall weight trend is still moving downwards.
As I close out the first week of this journey, it's clear that while there are fluctuations in both appetite and weight, the general trend appears to be positive. My body is adapting to the changes, and I'm learning to manage my hunger and dietary choices more effectively.
Today, I felt energized and decided to add a quick run to my exercise routine, despite having three more workouts planned over the next three days. Given that I've been eating less for almost a week, I was somewhat skeptical about my performance.
To my surprise, the run went rather well. I completed a 6km distance in 32 minutes and 36 seconds, which happens to be my fastest time for this distance in recent months. It's particularly noteworthy considering that I haven't been running outdoors as frequently due to icy road conditions, which has somewhat limited my outdoor conditioning opportunities.
This improvement in my running time was unexpected, especially since I started the Wegovy trial. The favorable weather conditions certainly played a role – there was no wind and the temperatures were mild, creating ideal conditions for a run. However, it's intriguing to consider that the dietary changes and perhaps the effects of the trial medication might be positively influencing my physical performance.
This experience adds another interesting dimension to my journey with Wegovy. It's motivating to see such tangible improvements in my physical activity, and I'm curious to see how this trend continues as the trial progresses.
At the end of the first week I am still not certain whether I am actually getting the medication or whether I am in the control group. My appetite is considerably diminished, and I am definitely eating less, but I am also rather motivated to change my eating habits so it is entirely possible that I am convincing myself that I am not as hungry as I used to be.
At the start of this journey, I was rather concerned that I would be suffering from some of the gastrointestinal problems that others have noted online. Sulfur burbs, nausea, puking and other side effects have blessed me with their absence. I am so far fully able to continue living my life the way that I like. I have no idea whether this is down to eating healthy, living healthy or just dumb luck. I hope it continues.
